Well, Dana, I do find myself trying to make deals with the universe. Like, let the book sell and I'll settle for a mediocre house.

Excellent analogy, but I'd rather deal with the agent/book than move again...

The good news, having moved many, many more times than I care to think about.
(With two grad students in literature amassing books steadily as we sent along.)
Once you have to pack it up, move it, and unpack it, there really isn't any added work if it sits in storage for a while.
(Except that if it spends *too* long in storage you get the "but I need it" duplication cycle starting: sure I have three sets of measuring cups in storage, but I need one now.... That way insanity lies.)

A friend has inherited china and silver from both her grandparents, and from her husband's family, as well as from a couple of aunts.
She has two grown daughters who want nothing to do with any of it at the moment.
As an experienced parent, she is holding off auctioning off the lot of it, since if she did they would obviously both immediately develop a passion for a traditional design aesthetic. Luckily she has lots of storage.
And no desire to move.
Poor Sair has four sets of silver in various stages of completeness, as well as six sets of china.
Doomed.

Just make sure to put the dungeon equipment into storage before you have the realtors come walking through. Otherwise, you have to field too many questions from them about things... LOL

Great analogy, and I hear you on the book overload. The husband looks at me just the other day, as I walk in the house with more books, and says, "What are you going to do when we move in a few years?"

*sigh*

Good luck finding the perfect one.

Your house of books was great. In my next house, I would love a proper "library." Oh well- dream away!

I do agree with you, some writers are really into marketing their own books and some are not. Recognize that and be realistic. Professional marketing assistance reduces the chances of sitting there with a bunch of empty cartons of books (because they are sold) rather than cartons of unsold books!
